Report: Lakers set to make first free-agency signing with shooting guard
- Updated: July 1, 2019
The Los Angeles Lakers are set to join the free-agency fray with their first signing of the 2019 offseason.
According to reports, expect the Lakers to sign former Phoenix Suns shooting guard Troy Daniels to a contract that will be cap-friendly for the cap-conscious team.
Lakers closing in on deal with guard Troy Daniels, per league source. Opportunity for the 27-year-old, who played in Phoenix last couple of seasons (38 percent on threes in 2018-19); low-cost vet for the Lakers who’ll help fill out the rotation.

Daniels gives the Lakers an experienced guard to come off the bench who can provide outside shooting that the team sorely lacked last season.
He averaged 6.2 points per game in only 14.9 minutes of playing time. He made 74-of-194 from three-point range for a 38.1 percent shooting percentage. That percentage will likely increase with LeBron James and Anthony Davis dishing out to him when either of them attract too much defensive attention.
