Report: Lakers Overtake Clippers as Odds Favorites to Win NBA Title
- Updated: November 6, 2019

The Los Angeles Lakers have gotten off to an incredibly hot start to the season and currently lay claim to a 6-1 record, the best in the NBA.
That success has led Las Vegas to move the Lakers up to title favorites over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Despite the fact that the Lakers’ lone defeat came at the hands of the Clippers, it appears that oddsmakers have been convinced by the Lakers’ more recent wins.
Since their defeat on opening night, the Lakers have shown an ability to both dominate en route to easy victories and battle it out in tough-won games. That success has primarily come thanks to the efforts of superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Already on the young season, Davis overtook the franchise record of free throws made in a game (26) and James eclipsed his career-high streak of triple-double outings (three). In short, both players are performing near the top of their powers and the Lakers are reaping the benefits.
The one thing to keep in mind is that the Clippers are right on the Lakers’ heels in terms of title odds despite the absence of star Paul George. Once he returns, it is quite likely that L.A.’s other team will overtake the Purple and Gold.
Either way, it is already clear that both Los Angeles teams are forces to be reckoned with. In fact, it would not be much of a shock to see a Western Conference Finals series take place exclusively in the shared Staples Center as season’s end.
