The Los Angeles Lakers are rumored to be looking to improve their roster prior to next month’s trade deadline.

One player that they have been linked to is Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose.

As trade markets start to slowly heat up, it has been revealed what the Pistons hope to gain in return for Rose in any potential deal.

“The Pistons are open to discussing deals for Derrick Rose, with an asking price of a lottery-level first-round pick, according to sources,” The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported.

This could make things quite difficult for the Lakers. The reason why is because they sent a slew of future picks to the New Orleans Pelicans as part of the deal to acquire big man Anthony Davis.

One thing that the Lakers could try to orchestrate is a deal that would center around a lottery-level talent such as Kyle Kuzma.

They could also try to exchange Kuzma for draft picks in a three-team deal and then shuttle those picks to Detroit in exchange for Rose.

Unfortunately for the Lakers’ trade hopes, Kuzma’s cheap contract makes him a difficult piece to move in exchange for much more expensive veterans such as the former MVP guard.

Still, one thing Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka has proven to be quite formidable at is finding ways to get deals done.

If the Lakers believe that they need to add Rose in order to improve their title hopes, expect Pelinka and the rest of the front office to exhaust every possible option to try to get a deal done.
