Report: Lakers Interested in Trading for Pistons Guard Derrick Rose
- Updated: January 20, 2020
Former MVP Derrick Rose may be on the move prior to next month’s trade deadline.
According to a recent report from Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes, the Los Angeles Lakers are a team to watch in terms of acquiring the veteran point guard.
“The Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and multiple teams with championship aspirations have expressed interest in trading for Detroit Pistons guard Derrick Rose, league sources told Yahoo Sports,” Haynes wrote.
There is little doubt that Rose would be an instant offensive upgrade at the point guard position in Los Angeles.
So far this season, Rose is averaging 18.3 points and 5.9 assists per game.
While he is not nearly as athletic as he was in the prime of his career, he has managed to come back from multiple catastrophic injuries to become a high-level contributor.
He’s also managed to stay healthy for the majority of the last several seasons.
One primary reason why the Lakers may be most interested in trading for Rose is because he does have some experience playing alongside LeBron James.
The two played together for a short period of the 2017-18 season on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
