Connections between celebrities and members of the Los Angeles Lakers are a natural byproduct of the fact that those celebrities attend games at Staples Center.

During Friday night’s game between the Lakers and Utah Jazz, singer Rihanna was captured by ESPN checking out Lakers guard Alex Caruso in the fourth quarter.

To tamp down the speculation offered by the remark in the tweet, there’s no indication that 31-year-old Rihanna and 25-year-old Caruso are currently dating. Yet the immediacy of the internet guarantees that this will provide fodder for gossip concerning that possibility.

Caruso was presumably not even aware that he was being eyed by Rihanna, since he saw his first action of the season in the Lakers’ 95-86 victory. He played 20 minutes, making one of his three shots from the field and finished with two points. In addition, he collected a steal, but also committed a pair of turnovers.

Rihanna has previously made known her great enthusiasm for another Laker, veteran forward LeBron James. For much of the past decade, she’s offered social media support for James and been in attendance at games where he has played. In the latter case, that took place when he was wearing the jerseys of his former teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
