Twitter War Erupts After LeBron James Unleashes Angry Comments on Killing of Ahmaud Arbery
- Updated: May 7, 2020
On Wednesday, Los Angeles Lakers four-time MVP LeBron James opined on the tragic death of Ahmaud Arbery, a young black man who was fatally shot by two white men back in February.
However, James’ comments were met with antipathy from Fox Sports personality Jason Whitlock.
This isn't helpful. It's twitter trolling. It's using this man's tragedy to build a brand as more outspoken than Michael Jordan. There are all kinds of ways to draw attention to this tragedy. Suggesting that we are hunted everyday/every time is just shit-stirring. https://t.co/zLPICaCKuA

The infamous sports journalist was blasted by several high-profile stars, including a few players from the NBA world. For all intent and purposes, an all-out Twitter war commenced.
You always got some shit to say.. wtf are you doing, besides coonin?

Do u believe we r hunted every day, every time we step out? It's ridiculous, unsophisticated hyperbole that promotes fear/emotion. Fear is the enemy of common sense, enemy of rational behavior. LeBron's tweet doesn't promote justice. It promotes emotion. Emotion improves nothing. https://t.co/x34MjlPBCi

Tobias, not sure if you understand how Twitter/social media work. My point of view isn't popular via social media. Promoting fear, emotion and divisiveness is what works via social media. https://t.co/1KomxXkIbH

Arbery, 25, was jogging in his neighborhood outside Brunswick, Ga. on Feb. 23 when two men gunned him down in the middle of the road because they suspected he was a robber.
While the incident occurred over two months ago, the case only got national media attention after a graphic video was recently released.
Nonetheless, sports stars from all over the country have chimed in on the devastating death.
James, who is no stranger to sharing his public opinion, has been one of the leading voices in all of sports when it comes to discussing social issues.
Over the course of his career, the three-time champion has been passionate about making an impact off the court. He has opened up a school, donated millions of dollars to great causes and been a voice for the voiceless.
