Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been a part of some talented teams during his NBA career, but it sounds like one of the most star-studded collaborations of his professional life is going to take place off the court.

The NBA veteran’s production company is reportedly teaming up with those of NFL legend Peyton Manning and the Obama family to produce a sports series.

“Between ‘Beckham,’ ‘Quarterback’ and the nationally captivating ‘The Last Dance,’ we are clearly living in our peak sports docuseries era,” wrote Meredith Woerner of Variety. “And now four-time, NBA champion LeBron James and hall of famers Peyton Manning have combined with the Obamas’ production company to contribute their own sports series centered around the NBA, Variety has confirmed.

“James’ SpringHill Company (which he started with business partner Maverick Carter) will join Manning’s production company Omaha Productions and the Obamas’ Higher Ground. The series will divide up each episode following various NBA athletes as they live their lives, similar to the Netflix docuseries ‘Quarterback,’ which followed three NFL quarterbacks during the 2022-2023 football season.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news, the docuseries will likely land on Netflix.

If the series ends up featuring some big names from around the NBA, it will certainly have a good chance of becoming a hit in the basketball world. Given the star power behind the production, one has to imagine that the series will indeed include some key players.

James is continuing to add to his legacy off the court. His production company has been involved in some very successful projects, including the popular Netflix movie “Hustle.”

On the court, the 38-year-old is preparing for his 21st NBA season. It will begin on Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets as the Lakers get another crack at the team that eliminated them from the 2023 Western Conference Finals.

It’s truly anyone’s guess how long James will continue playing in the league. While there have been hints that his time in the NBA could be ending soon, there have also been indications that he still wants to accomplish more.

For now, the future Hall of Famer appears ready to tackle the 2023-24 season in a big way. The Lakers have assembled a team that is expected to contend in the West, which is likely a major motivator for James. The squad showed life last season after making some deadline moves and will look to keep things rolling this season.

Meanwhile, the docuseries will be worth keeping an eye on as it progresses. Perhaps more information on the project will leak in the near future.
