Report: Lakers Promote Rob Pelinka to VP of Basketball Operations

Los Angeles Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka added another title to his job description on Friday.
Along with his role as general manager, Pelinka will now also be the vice president of basketball operations for the Lakers.

Controlling owner and Lakers president Jeanie Buss released a statement celebrating the promotion.

To further add to the clear vote of confidence from Buss, Pelinka has also had his contract as general manager with the team extended.

Pelinka was brought on as general manager for the Lakers in 2017. Since then, the former sports agent has managed to withstand ample media and fan criticism.
Now, after a whirlwind 2019 offseason that saw Pelinka trade away the vast majority of his team’s young core for Anthony Davis, the Lakers are once again at the center of the basketball world.
For Pelinka, this promotion certainly means a great deal of job security in L.A.
Hopefully, he continues to shine in his new role as he seeks to lead the Lakers to a title by the end of this season.
