The New York Knicks seem to be quite interested in Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma.
In fact, a recent report indicates that the Knicks are seeking to acquire Kuzma in a pre-deadline trade that would be centered around Marcus Morris.
It was recently reported that the Lakers were expected to feel out the market for Morris.
Similarly, a different report indicated that the Knicks had already engaged the Lakers in exploratory conversations regarding Kuzma.
It seems as though those conversations have been taken to the next level. If the Knicks are willing to part ways with Morris, who has been their best player on the court in many games this season, they are likely quite serious about trying to land Kuzma.
Morris has averaged 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season. Beyond that, he has taken his three-point shooting to the next level this year.
While his career average from beyond the arc is just 36.9 percent, he’s shooting a fantastic 43.9 percent from three-point land this year.
He’s been one of the few bright spots for a lowly Knicks team that currently has a record of 15-36 on the season.
If he were acquired by Los Angeles, he would inject some defensive toughness to the Lakers and also likely serve as a fantastic scoring option in the frontcourt when LeBron James is on the bench.
As for Kuzma, he would immediately become one of the major offensive focal points in New York alongside prized rookie R.J. Barrett.
