Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic has transformed his body this offseason, even shocking one scout, who “didn’t even recognize” the 26-year-old.

After a wild 2024-25 season where he was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Lakers, Doncic is looking to have a big season in the 2025-26 campaign.

The five-time All-Star showed his commitment to the Lakers this offseason, signing a three-year extension with the franchise. Now, it appears that Doncic is ready for a revenge tour in the coming season, based on comments from a teammate who likely either plays for the Lakers or the Slovenia men’s national team.

“One of his teammates told me he’s on a revenge tour next season,” the aforementioned scout told Lakers Daily’s Ashish Mathur.

Despite dealing with injuries that limited him to 50 games in the 2024-25 campaign, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the field and 36.8 percent from beyond the arc.

He didn’t have as great of a season as he did in the 2023-24 campaign when he led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals, but Doncic still helped the Lakers earn the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

Unfortunately, Los Angeles came up short in the playoffs, losing in the first round to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s possible that has provided Doncic with some extra motivation heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

In fact, Doncic said at a dinner with Lakers head coach J.J. Redick and executive Rob Pelinka that he’s getting back to the NBA Finals.

The anonymous teammate isn’t the only one that has noticed that Doncic is motivated this offseason. Recently, Slovenia head coach Aleksander Sekulic spoke about the motivation of the Lakers star this summer.

“He’s not the real Doncic yet, and we all know what that looks like,” Sekulic said. “The most important thing is that he’s very motivated. He came to achieve something special with the national team and then be ready for the new season.”

Lakers fans certainly are going to love all of the positive offseason buzz around Doncic, but the next step for the star guard is proving that he’s even better in the 2025-26 season.

Doncic has been in the conversation for the league MVP award multiple times in his career, finishing third in the voting in the 2023-24 season. Hopefully, he has an MVP-caliber season for the Lakers in the 2025-26 campaign that puts them in contention for an NBA title.
