Anthony Davis Says Lakers Can Beat Anyone in 7-Game Series
- Updated: July 14, 2019

The Los Angeles Lakers may have struck out on creating the latest superteam, but the duo of Anthony Davis and LeBron James is still one of the best pairings in the NBA.
In fact, despite the makeshift roster around James and Davis, the All-Star big man said that he is confident in the Lakers’ chances against any of the other top-tier teams in the league.
“I would put our roster up against anybody,” Davis said. “I feel like that in a seven-game series that we would come out victorious.”
Davis also spoke about the experience of getting dealt to the Lakers in a blockbuster trade earlier this summer. On top of that, he made it clear that now that he is in the Purple and Gold, his one goal is to bring a championship to L.A.
“Obviously, it was tough for me to leave a city that I’ve been playing for for seven years, but I think it was best for me and it was my time,” Davis said. “But when I found out I was getting traded to the Lakers, I realized it was an unbelievable opportunity for me to be here with a wonderful organization, and then to play alongside LeBron and obviously now the players that we have now … to get the opportunity to do that and come here and play for an organization that’s all about winning — forget winning, winning championships, and that’s the only goal — I think that was the biggest thing for me. Just the relief there, of not knowing the unknown anymore and knowing where I was going to be next season.”
Now that the league seems to be filled with talented duos, it’s going to be fascinating to see who will have the talent necessary to take their team to the promised land.
While many may be counting the Lakers out at the moment, it seems Davis is quite confident in the potential success to come.
