Anthony Davis Heaps Praise on Avery Bradley, Calls Him ‘Very Special’
- Updated: October 2, 2019
The Los Angeles Lakers are still building their identity for the 2019-20 season.
While stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James figure to dominate the team’s offensive identity, it seems veteran point guard Avery Bradley could have a strong impact on the team’s defensive front.
Following Wednesday’s practice, Davis gushed about Bradley’s impact on the defensive side of the ball.
“I’ve seen Avery play defense from afar, but to see it everyday, the way he gets after it and competes is pretty special,” Davis said to reporters. “He can really guard the ball to the point where coach said, ‘If he at the ball, just pass it.’ He’s very special on the defensive end and for me to see it everyday has been great.”
This is fantastic news for a Lakers team that is believed to be incredibly top heavy when it comes to talent on the roster.
If Bradley manages to carve out a place for himself on the roster as a defensive specialist, it will only help the Lakers develop more effective lineups as the season progresses.
Per a recent report, it appears that Bradley is currently competing with Rajon Rondo for the starting point guard position.
If he continues to impress on the defensive front, it’s possible that strength will give him the edge over his fellow veteran guard.
