Although the NBA’s 2019-20 is in jeopardy of being cancelled due to the novel coronavirus, players are still sharing their opinions on who should win major awards.
In an interview with ESPN’s Jay Williams on “The Boardroom,” Portland Trail Blazers star C.J. McCollum declared that Los Angeles Lakers four-time MVP LeBron James is the best player in the game today.

“I’ll go Bron (James), Kawhi [Leonard] and Giannis [Antetokounmpo],” McCollum said when asked by Williams who the top three players in the NBA were.
“I think Bron has solidified himself as the best player right now, McCollum said. “[He] makes his team better. You take him off that Laker team, you see what happened last year. Put him on another team. If you change roles, that’s how I look at like most valuable player”
James, 35, was chasing down Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo for the 2020 MVP award.
While Antetokounmpo was assumed the clear favorite to win the illustrious award this year, James turned up the heat and made it a two-player race just before the NBA suspended the season.
As a matter of fact, James took down the reigning MVP and the Bucks as well as the star-studded Los Angeles Clippers in statement victories the weekend prior to the announcement of the hiatus.
On the season, the three-time champion is averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game. Furthermore, his magnificent play and leadership had the Lakers with the second-best record in the entire league.
McCollum, 28, is having another strong year.
The 6-foot-3 guard is posting 22.5 points, 4.3 assists and 4.1 boards per game this season. However, the Trail Blazers are currently looking at the playoff picture from the outside.
