Despite acquiring All-Star center Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans in a trade several days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers know they still have plenty of work ahead of them.
Luckily, help could be just around the corner in the form of Nikola Vucevic, who had a career year last season.
According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, Vucevic is a target of both the Lakers and Boston Celtics in free agency.
The trade with New Orleans decimated the Lakers’ roster, which is now in need of new blood via free agents who are interested in possibly winning a championship next year.
Vucevic could be just what the doctor ordered for L.A.
He averaged career highs in several categories, including points (20.8), rebounds (12.0), and assists (3.8), while knocking down threes at 36.4 percent.
The 7-foot center could form a lethal combination with Davis, who is also a 7-footer. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel could feature a massive frontcourt with 6-foot-8 LeBron James at the small forward spot next season.
If the Orlando Magic fail in their bid to re-sign Vucevic, expect the Lakers to give him a call very soon.
