Report: Lakers Interested in Trading for Wizards Big Man Davis Bertans
- Updated: January 6, 2020
A flurry of recent reports have detailed a number of players that the Los Angeles Lakers might try to add to their roster prior to next month’s trade deadline.
Per a Monday report, forward Davis Bertans is on that list.
“Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard was sincere in his comments last month about his intentions to re-sign sharpshooting forward Davis Bertans this summer, but that hasn’t stopped teams from showing interest ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline,” Chase Hughes of NBCSports.com wrote.
“In addition to the Sixers, Hawks and Lakers, the Celtics and Nuggets have emerged as suitors for Bertans’ services, NBC Sports Washington has learned. Bertans, 27, has enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from three on 8.6 attempts per game.”
Just like the other players that the Lakers may be interested in, Bertans has the ability to stretch the court thanks to his ability to shoot from deep.
A player of his caliber would offer Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis a fantastic catch-and-shoot option.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Wizards entertain any trader offers for Bertans.
What does seem abundantly clear at this point, however, is that the Lakers are definitely looking for ways to strengthen their roster to improve their chances of bringing a title to L.A.
