Despite recent reports that the New Orleans Pelicans were not interested in dealing with the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade for All-Star big man Anthony Davis, it now seems as though the teams have indeed communicated about a potential deal.
Not only that, but the Lakers’ latest offer for Davis has been revealed.
This potential trade is a sign of just how serious the Lakers are when it comes to bringing Davis to Los Angeles and pairing him with current Lakers star LeBron James.
Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Brandon Ingram are the three players at the center of the Lakers’ current young core. This deal is probably the best the Lakers will be able to offer.
It is also a sign that they are not looking to take advantage of the rumors that Davis would prefer to play in L.A.
At the moment, the ball appears to be in New Orleans’ court. While there may be better offers for Davis this offseason, dealing Davis now and beginning a rebuild with the offered young talent at its core has to be an attractive option.
With just a week left until the Feb. 7 trade deadline arrives, what the Pelicans decide to do will be revealed sooner rather than later.
