The Los Angeles Lakers did not end up making any pre-deadline trades, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to improve their roster.
According to a recent report, it now seems more likely that veteran point guard Darren Collison will end up on the Lakers.
Last offseason, Collison decided to end his NBA career to focus on his faith. However, last month, it was reported that he was looking to make a return to the hardwood.
From the onset, the Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers seemed to be the most likely options.
With the Clippers trading for point guard Isaiah Thomas on Thursday, it now seems even more probable that Collison will end up in the Purple and Gold.
Throughout his time in the NBA, Collison has averaged 12.5 points and 5.0 assists per game.
Beyond that, he’s shot 47.1 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc over the course of his career.
If Collison can be the playmaker that he had been prior to his retirement, he could very likely become the backup point guard in L.A.
