Before the season began, many expressed their doubts about whether LeBron James could still play at an elite level.
This is the Los Angeles Lakers star’s 17th season, after all. But following the Lakers’ latest win against the Chicago Bulls, James tweeted a strong message to his haters.
As shown by his recent string of performances, James is showing that he is far from “washed.” His triple-double in tonight’s game made him the oldest player in NBA history to record the feat in three straight contest. He also matched his season average of 11 assists per game, which is a career-high and currently leads the league.
For James, however, more important than posting impressive stats is coming out with the victory.
“It comes with team success for me,” James told reporters after the Tuesday game. “A triple-double means absolutely nothing to me if it’s not in a win.”
The Lakers were losing the match against the Bulls after three lackluster quarters. Down by 13 entering the fourth quarter, the Lakers caught up using a 16-0 run led by Kyle Kuzma. James helped finish the win and ended with a team-high plus-17.
