Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James showed Boston Celtics icon Larry Bird some major love on Sunday.
The star small forward offered a tribute to the NBA legend after SportsCenter’s Instagram page published a video of some of Bird’s career highlights.
Bird, who played for the Celtics for his entire career, is considered to be one of the best forwards in NBA history.
The 6-foot-9 pro averaged 24.3 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists over the course of his career. Furthermore, he played a crucial role in helping the Celtics capture three championships in the 1980s.
The versatile forward was one of the league’s early all-around superstars. In fact, James offered his take that Bird’s talents would have made him a star in any era.
Considered one of the most clutch players to ever play, Bird was often known to talk incredible amounts of trash to his opponents.
In a day and age where fans are constantly comparing NBA legends’ resumes and eras, it’s phenomenal to see James pay such respect to an all-time great.
