The prospect of playing NBA games in a central location in order to complete the 2019-20 season is something that Los Angeles Lakers veteran Jared Dudley is enthusiastically endorsing.
After the NBA shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic was announced in March, the idea of playing all of the league’s games in Las Vegas was reportedly under consideration three weeks later.
More recently, the idea of playing them at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla. has gained strong strong consideration by the league.
In both cases, the concept of playing in a “bubble” would pertain to the fact that no fans would be in attendance at games and countless safety protocols would be instituted. Those key steps would serve as an effort to potentially eliminate any risk of the highly contagious virus spreading.
Dudley and his Lakers teammates are especially eager to see the season get going again, since they had the best record in the Western Conference at 49-14. The Lakers were also on target to reach the postseason for the first time since 2013 and potentially compete in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.
The NBA has yet to make any decision on if and when the season might resume, though they’re continuing to pursue all avenues to try to make that happen.
