After months of waiting, Carmelo Anthony will finally be suiting up once again for an NBA team on Tuesday night.
While Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James won’t be able to watch his close friend’s triumphant return to professional basketball, he will surely be supporting him nonetheless.
Anthony has had a tough go of it the last couple of years. That’s especially true when considering his career prior to that.
Last year, Anthony began the 2018-19 season on the Houston Rockets. After just 10 games with the team, however, the two parties announced that they were parting ways. He was ultimately traded to the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 22 and subsequently released.
When Anthony failed to sign with another team around the league, many thought his storied career had come to somewhat of a sad ending. That all changed, however, when he signed with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Now, Anthony will look to take advantage of his latest, and quite possibly last, chance in the NBA.
While James will be unable to watch due to the Lakers’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, there’s no doubt that he’ll be interested to learn how his close friend fared in his first game back.
Luckily, James won’t have to wait too long to see Anthony play up close. The Lakers and Blazers are set to face off on Dec. 6.
