Lakers Unveil ‘City Edition’ Uniforms for 2019-20 NBA Season

The Los Angeles Lakers unveiled their “City Edition” jerseys for the 2019-20 season on Tuesday.

The uniforms are quite similar to their Lakers’ regular gold jerseys, with a few twists.

The “City Edition” jerseys began during the 2017-18 season and served an effort to offer a unique take on all 30 NBA uniforms. A press release from the league made an effort to explain the reason for implementing the jerseys.

“The Nike NBA City Edition uniforms represent insights and emotion from the court to the upper deck to the cities’ streets, in pursuit of a unique way to capture each team and its city in a way that respects the past and present of the clubs while also positioning them for the future,” the release stated.

Back in September, an apparent leak of the Lakers’ “City Edition” uniforms emerged on Chinese e-commerce websites. At the time, neither the Lakers nor the NBA offered any comment regarding the supposed leak.
