Arthur Kaluma is getting a close look at what makes Luka Doncic such a difficult player to defend.
A video was shared Friday featuring the Los Angeles Lakers forward discussing a specific play and Doncic’s passing ability.
Kaluma broke down the play and marvels at Doncic’s passing. It offers a teammate’s perspective on a skill that is central to the Lakers’ offense.

“We blitzed the ball screen, and I came back, and he wrapped a pass around my arm to Walker for a dunk,” said Kaluma. “That’s a crazy read. Crazy read. That’s a Luka read.”
Arthur Kaluma is working to establish himself with the Lakers
Kaluma enters the season on a two-way contract, giving him an opportunity to continue his development within the Lakers organization.
The Lakers announced his signing in July after a productive summer.
Across seven appearances in the California Classic and Las Vegas Summer Leagues, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 51.6 percent from the field and 44.8 percent from 3-point range.
That outside shooting is relevant to his potential fit alongside Doncic. Players around a high-level creator must be prepared to turn an opening into a shot, drive or quick pass before the defense recovers.
Kaluma’s latest appearance in McMenamin’s footage offers a smaller glimpse of that learning process: a developing teammate explaining the passing ability of the player directing the Lakers’ offense.
