On Friday, it was reported that forward Markieff Morris had agreed to a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons.

Immediately after, the Los Angeles Lakers landed the hard-nosed veteran.

While speaking to reporters, Morris’ twin brother, Marcus, who was recently acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers via trade, reacted to the news that his twin may potentially join him in L.A.

The Morris twins first burst onto the basketball scene as four-star recruits out of Philadelphia. They both went on to accept scholarship offers at the University of Kansas before both declaring for the 2011 NBA Draft.

Marcus Morris has career averages of 12.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Markieff Morris’s career averages are quite similar at 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Markieff Morris will offer a big body down low, as well as an ability to shoot from deep. This season, Markieff Morris has shot 39.7 percent from beyond the arc.

After striking out in the trade deadline market, the Lakers have finally landed a coveted buyout free agent.

Markieff Morris’ first opportunity to play against his brother will come in a March 8 matchup.
