In recognition of his 34th birthday on Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard’s arrival at Staples Center was marked by the veteran being serenaded by the Laker Girls.

Howard made an effort to hug all of the women in recognition of their gesture and expressed his thanks for the effort. He also took time to acknowledge the impact of the honor he’d been given, noting that it was a highlight for the day.
This particular birthday was already shaping up as a positive one for a player who’s now in his 16th season and is enjoying a rebirth during his second go-around with the Lakers. The previous time with the team lasted just a single year and began a spiral that seemingly had his career on the verge of ending.
The Lakers are entering Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a 20-3 record, which is tied for the best record in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks. That’s despite Howard’s statistical numbers actually being the lowest of his career, with averages of 7.0 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
