Stephen Jackson implies LeBron is lying about A.D. trade: ‘You think Kobe didn’t know that they was finna trade Shaq?’

Star forward LeBron James saw one of the best players he’s ever had the privilege of sharing the floor with change teams several days ago. Star big man Anthony Davis got dealt from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Dallas Mavericks over the weekend, with star guard Luka Doncic landing in L.A. as a result of the trade.

Reporting and words straight from James’ mouth have indicated that he had no prior knowledge of the move and was taken aback by it, but former NBA forward Stephen Jackson seemingly doesn’t buy that premise.

“I’m first-team all-common sense,” Jackson said. “So, it’s no way, it’s no way that it could come out that Rob Pelinka called Anthony Davis’ agent, then A.D., then after the trade was made, they called Bron.

“It don’t work like that, bruh. … If it even in your mind to call Bron and talk to him about it afterwards, you called and talked to him about it before it happened. Come on, man. That’s just common sense.

“Anybody you have the respect for or anybody that has the position on a team where the owner or the coach — whoever’s involved with making the trades — is calling them and asking they opinion after, of course they called you before.

“They called you on the phone with A.D. just so make sure everybody good. That’s all that was. But they definitely talked to LeBron before. Bron know what’s going on all across the league, bruh, let alone with the Lakers.”

Jackson continued, bringing up Lakers legends Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

“You think Kobe didn’t know that they was finna trade Shaq?” he asked.

During the conversation in question, fellow retired forward Matt Barnes seemingly made a valid point that if James indeed isn’t telling the truth, maybe it’s to save face with Davis. James and Davis played with one another on the Lakers for more than five seasons and won a title together.

Retired NBA guard Rashad McCants claimed a few days ago that James never liked Davis, but there’s plenty of evidence that goes against that idea. Namely, James refuted a report that he had become frustrated with Davis, even if the report in question might’ve been misinterpreted by some.

In addition, James penned a message for Davis on Instagram after news of the trade broke and told the big man he loves him.

James has certainly been accused of stretching the truth in the past. He has become sort of a meme in recent years for all of the instances where he’s allegedly lied, and video compilations exist online of his supposed falsehoods.

The Lakers have only played one game since the team traded Davis to the defending Western Conference champions. Los Angeles took on the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday and blew them out by more than 20 points behind a 26-point performance from James, who also chipped in eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
