Report: Lakers linked to sneaky big man prospect ahead of 2026 NBA Draft

The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to big man Duke Brennan ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft.

Brennan reportedly will have an official workout with the Lakers on Tuesday, putting him on the radar as a potential option for Los Angeles. The Lakers only have one pick in the 2026 NBA Draft (their first-round selection) since they traded away their 2026 second-round pick years ago. Brennan isn’t projected to go in the first round.

Still, Brennan could be a player to watch for Los Angeles as it looks to improve its frontcourt. The Lakers have several potential free agents this offseason, including some that could impact their big man depth.

Brennan spent four seasons in college, beginning his career at Arizona State University before transferring to Grand Canyon University, where he spent two seasons. He was an All-WAC selection in the 2024-25 season and made the conference’s All-Defense team in the same campaign.

He then transferred to Villanova University ahead of the 2025-26 season, where he eventually earned All-Big East honors. Brennan had a huge 2025-26 campaign, averaging 12.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 65.8 percent from the field.

The big man didn’t shoot many 3s in his college career (he was 1-for-3 overall), but he’s a proven inside presence that averaged over nine rebounds per game in each of his last two collegiate seasons.

Since it doesn’t appear that Brennan will be a first-round pick, the Lakers may value him as a potential undrafted free agent option following the 2026 NBA Draft. Los Angeles would love to improve its depth down low after multiple seasons of shaky big man play ever since the team moved on from Anthony Davis in the Luka Doncic trade.

The Lakers have a lot of moves to consider making this offseason, but finding another undrafted player that could help them in the future would be a major win. Austin Reaves and Alex Caruso have both played major roles as undrafted players for the Lakers in the past, and it’s possible Brennan could increase L.A.’s interest in him with a strong workout on Tuesday.
