The Los Angeles Lakers are still looking for potential trade pieces prior to the NBA’s trade deadline, and Detroit Pistons forward Markieff Morris has become their latest reported target.
Morris is enjoying a solid year in his first season with the Pistons. In 42 appearances, he’s averaged 11.0 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He’s also shooting at a 39.3 percent clip from beyond the arc.
Interestingly, the Lakers have also reportedly expressed interest in Morris’ current Detroit teammate Derrick Rose.
While a trade for Morris would not be anything close to a blockbuster deal, it would add another player that the Lakers would be comfortable with inserting into their eventual playoff rotation.
With an ever-growing number of rumors swirling around many NBA players and teams at the moment, it will be interesting to see which trades actually do end up occurring and which fall flat.
Though the Lakers seem to be doing their due diligence when it comes to the players they are interested in, only time will tell if that materializes in any moves actually being made prior to Thursday’s deadline.
