On Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had signed the son of NBA legend John Stockton to what is likely a training camp deal.
David Stockton, who has spent the majority of his career either playing in Europe or in the NBA’s G League, is now the 20th player on the current Lakers roster.
Last season, the younger Stockton appeared in 35 games for Medi Bayreuth in the German Bundesliga, averaging 8.7 points, 3.6 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game.
Stateside, the Gonzaga University product has spent four seasons in the NBA’s G League. He also has NBA regular season experience with the Utah Jazz.
While it is certainly a long shot, the point guard will now compete for a spot on the Lakers’ regular season roster.
Per team policy, the terms of the deal have not been released.
