Last offseason, veteran guard Darren Collison shocked the NBA world when he decided to retire to focus on his faith.
Now, with the 2019-20 season in full swing, a New Year’s Day report indicated that he is mulling a return to the league. The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly near the top of his list of preferred destinations.
Collison entered the NBA as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. In his career, he has averaged 12.5 points and 5.0 assists per game.
He’s shot 47.1 from the field through his career and 39.4 percent from three-point land. If he were to sign with the Lakers, he would certainly compete for the team’s starting point guard position.
While the Lakers are surely a title favorite so far this season, concerns at the point guard position have emerged.
This a developing story and one to monitor as time goes on.
