Dwight Howard is feeling the holiday spirit.
Before Friday night’s game versus the Miami Heat, the big man gave all of his Los Angeles Lakers teammates a gift.
All season long, Howard has been an incredible teammate. This simple gesture is just the latest indication of that.
Before this season began, some believed that Howard’s NBA career might have been over. While he had once been one of the most dominant big men in the NBA, slowing production and recurring injuries certainly put his career in jeopardy.
That all changed when Lakers big man DeMarcus Cousins went down with an injury. It was then that Howard got an opportunity with the Lakers and his shot at redemption in L.A.
So far this season, he has made good on that opportunity. He is currently averaging 6.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 19.9 minutes per game. While his current numbers are nowhere near what they were during his prime, has has proven to be an undeniable commodity.
Howard signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Lakers this past offseason, but the big man certainly seems like he’s here to stay.
Whether or not that means more gifts for his teammates further down the line remains to be seen.
