In Friday’s showdown between the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, LeBron James got off to a bad start, as he had seven turnovers in the first half.
But he rebounded to put forth a very strong second half, and afterward, he revealed that his teammates inspired him to bounce back.
“My teammates got on my a–,” James told ESPN just after the game. “They told me, ‘You’re playing too passive, you’re thinking about the game too much instead of just read and reacting and doing what you do.’ Starting with this guy (Anthony Davis), he got on me, [DeMarcus] Cousins got on me, and they told me just be me.”
For the game, the three-time NBA champ put up 28 points, nine rebounds and 12 assists while shooting 4-of-8 from 3-point range.
After a first half that was marked by sloppy ball-handling, James only had one turnover in the second half as the Lakers outlasted Miami, 113-110.
Davis was also huge for the Purple and Gold, as he contributed 33 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots on the night.
With a 23-3 record, the Lakers now have a 13-game road winning streak, which is the second-longest in franchise history. Only the 1971-72 squad, which won a league-record 33 games in a row, had a longer winning streak on the road.
