Rajon Rondo delivered a passionate NSFW rant toward a referee after the Los Angeles Lakers guard was issued a flagrant-2 foul for kicking Dennis Schroder in the groin on Friday night.
Not only did he get ejected from the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder for the flagrant-2 call, but Rondo was also assessed a technical foul for cursing at an official.
Rondo had to be restrained by his teammates as he couldn’t hold back his anger and frustration at the call.
Lakers star LeBron James took his teammate’s side, saying he didn’t agree with the referees’ decision.
“I didn’t think it called for an ejection, but the refs have to do what they feel best fits,” James said. “But, you know, I didn’t think it called for an ejection.”
The incident happened early in the fourth quarter of the hotly contested game at Chesapeake Energy Arena. At the time, the Lakers were clinging to a four-point lead with 10:20 left to play. The Purple and Gold ultimately pulled away with a 130-127 victory, their second win versus the Thunder this week.
Rondo finished with eight points and four assists in 18 minutes of playing action.
