LeBron James is widely considered to have one of the most impressive basketball IQs of any NBA player in history.
James’ knowledge of the game has seemingly helped Los Angeles Lakers teammate Quinn Cook learn more about the game of basketball.
In a recent video interview, the young guard shed light on what he’s learned from playing alongside James.
“Playing with LeBron has helped my knowledge of the game tremendously on and off the floor,” Cook said. “I was his rook when I was in Cleveland my rookie year, and he took me under his wing and he’s been my big brother ever since. Just to see how hard he prepares, on and off the floor, on an everyday basis, you can do nothing but learn from a guy like that. To have one of my idols be a big brother is a dream come true. He’s the best teammate you could ask for.”
In his first year with the Lakers, Cook is averaging 4.8 points, 1.1 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game. While he has not played a major role in the Lakers’ success, he has served as a valuable rotational player.
As for James, he’s currently considered amongst the favorites to win the MVP award for his contributions this season. He’s currently averaging 25.7 points, 10.6 assists and 7.9 rebounds on the season.
That being said, the current stall of the season due to the novel coronavirus has brought everything in the NBA to a standstill.
Hopefully, games are able to start up again soon so that Cook can continue learning from his hero and teammate.
