Patrick Beverley Upset LeBron James Gets Highlights Following Lakers Loss

The Los Angeles Lakers started out their 2019-20 season with a loss versus the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.

Despite the loss, Lakers star LeBron James was involved in many of the game’s highlights that were broadcasted throughout the media world. That fact seems to have rubbed Clippers guard Patrick Beverley the wrong way.

Per Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, Beverley was quite bothered by James getting the majority of the attention despite the loss.

“In the locker room, Beverley — who had 10 boards and six assists while often tasked with defending James — addressed the media at his locker stall, and when it ended, he still wasn’t done,” Haynes wrote.

“The defensive specialist sat by himself and spoke out loud about how TV programs routinely show highlights of James in defeats, without discussing in depth the opponent that beat him. He challenged the media to report the facts instead of showing crossover highlights of one of the game’s best.”

Beverley is known as one of the more competitive players in the NBA and despite his slight 6-foot-1 frame, holds a reputation as one of the most dominant defensive players in the league. That fact certainly played a role in holding James to just 18 points in the game.

The truth is that while much will be made about the Clippers’ 112-102 victory, there is so much more basketball to be played. Neither teams will be fully healthy for quite some time and it will take an even longer time for both teams to fully realize their potential this season.

Whatever happens from here on out, this surely is not the last time fans will hear from Beverley regarding how overlooked his Clippers are in the City of Angels.
