Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Michael Beasley has been suspended for five games by the NBA for failing a drug test. That test reportedly took place while the veteran was a member of the Lakers during the 2018-19 season.

According to the report, Beasley was away from the team at the time, as he had to attend to urgent family matters.

The 11-year veteran is a free agent, but he has not received much interest around the league after an unimpressive stint with the Lakers last season. He was shipped off to the Los Angeles Clippers at the trade deadline and was subsequently waived.

He then went to China to play for the Guangdong Southern Tigers until their season concluded. His suspension will kick in once he signs on to play for an NBA team.

According to another report, however, Beasley may end up playing for another Chinese team instead.

Beasley submitted career lows in nearly every category during his stint with the Lakers, averaging a paltry 7.0 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in only 10.7 minutes of playing time.
