LeBron James honored Kobe Bryant both on and off the court on Sunday.
During the first quarter of last night’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, James went over to greet Bryant in front of a packed Staples Center crowd.
After James and the Lakers took care of business with a 122-101 drubbing of the Hawks, the four-time MVP posted a video and a few photos on Instagram to pay homage to the Lakers great.
Soon after he shook hands with Bryant on the court, James added to the surreal moment for fans when he knocked down a 3-pointer after play resumed. That gave the Lakers a huge 19-point cushion that eventually led to the Lakers’ victory.
James recorded 33 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists in 33 minutes of action, a performance certainly worthy of the high standards set by Bryant in a Lakers uniform.
The former rivals are friends off the court despite their on-court battles years ago.
Now wearing a Lakers jersey, James hopes to add to his personal championship hardware before his career in L.A. comes to a close.
