LeBron James gushes over ‘damn good’ LaMelo Ball after Lakers-Hornets matchup

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James offered a rousing endorsement of 19-year-old Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball after the two faced each other on the court for the first time.

James, who’s currently in his 18th NBA season, offered a quick critique of Ball’s assets and indicated that his current level of play is just a precursor for the future, saying that he’s “damn good” for his age.

“His speed, his quickness, his ability to make shots at all facets, ya know in the paint, floaters, threes, he has the three-tier already, and he’s going to only get better,” James said.

Though the Hornets lost to the Lakers on Thursday night, Ball continued to deliver by scoring 26 points, handing out seven assists and grabbing five rebounds. For the year, Ball is averaging 16.0 points, 6.2 assists, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

Over James’ lengthy NBA career, he’s seen plenty of players who have had strong rookie campaigns, which makes his opinion one that possesses a great deal of credibility.

Back during the 2003-04 season, James was in his first NBA season as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers and went on to win Rookie of the Year honors as the first step in a legendary career.

Ball may not reach the level that James is at now, but it’s clear that he’s getting the superstar’s attention.
