LeBron breaks silence on relationship with Drake: ‘It’s always love’

Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James and star rapper Drake have seemingly had a falling out over the last year or so, with fans speculating that the rift in their relationship is linked to the rap beef between Drake and rival artist Kendrick Lamar.

Many have posited that the Lakers star showed too much support for Lamar for Drake’s liking when the two rappers were exchanging diss tracks.

Despite all that has been reported about cracks in their relationship, James made it clear recently that he will always wish the best for Drake, saying “it’s always love.”

James and Drake go back a ways. It’s been said that their relationship first began to grow when James attended a Drake release party in 2009. Over the years, their close friendship was very obvious to the public, but the dynamic has seemingly shifted as of late.

It doesn’t seem as if James has any hard feelings for Drake, but at the same time, folks shouldn’t expect the latter to show up courtside to a Lakers game anytime soon with the public support the 40-year-old has shown Lamar.

The comments from James come as the start of the 2025-26 campaign for the Lakers is quickly approaching. In just over a month from now, Los Angeles will open its 82-game season with a contest against star guard Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors on Oct. 21. Iconically, Curry maintains a strong relationship with Drake.

Folks have to wait even less time to see the Lakers begin their stint in the preseason, as their first preseason contest is scheduled for Oct. 3 against the Phoenix Suns.

Hopefully, James’ words indicating that he still has a lot of love for Drake will kickstart the two icons mending their relationship. They have supported one another for so long, and it would be unfortunate if they can’t get back on good terms. It will be an off-the-court storyline to watch for anyone who is interested.
