The Los Angeles Lakers will be shorthanded against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday.
While point guard Rajon Rondo’s status is still up in the air and Avery Bradley is probable to return to action, power forward Kyle Kuzma will sit out with a left ankle sprain.
Kuzma, 24, will miss his fifth game of the season.
Although Kuzma is considered amongst the better young players in the NBA, the forward is having the worst season of his career. The three-year pro is averaging career-lows across the board with 11.1 points and 3.4 boards in just 23.1 minutes per game this season.
The drop in production could be a result of the arrival of superstar Anthony Davis. The big man, who dominates the Lakers’ offensive production, is putting up 27.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.7 blocks per game this year.
On Sunday, Davis exploded for 50 points on an impressive 20-of-29 shooting from the field against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The performance led the All-Star to be recognized as the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
