After LeBron James registered his third straight triple-double of the 2019-20 season, his former teammate, Kendrick Perkins, reminded everyone of the promise made to him by the Los Angeles Lakers forward.
The entire league has been warned thanks to Perkins, whom James texted after seeing the former Cleveland Cavaliers center name Giannis Antetokounmpo as his top player in the league this season.
Against the Bulls Tuesday night, James recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists, orchestrating the Lakers’ comeback from a huge 19-point deficit to win the game 118-112. The 15-time All-Star is the first Laker since Magic Johnson in 1987 to put together a string of three straight triple-doubles.
Interestingly, all three of James’ triple-doubles came on the road. He had 39 points, 12 rebounds and 16 assists versus the Dallas Mavericks last Friday and 21 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists against the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday.
Playing in his second season with the Lakers, James appears to be serving notice to everyone that he is taking over as the best player in the league once again.
After losing the first game of the season to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Lakers have reeled off six straight wins for a Western Conference leading 6-1 record.
