The basketball world is still far removed from Kawhi Leonard’s decision to join the Los Angeles Clippers over the Los Angeles Lakers. However, that isn’t stopping Lakers fans from giving the NBA Finals MVP a piece of their mind.
Prior to the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Keith Thurman, Leonard was seen getting ruthlessly heckled by Lakers fans.
“Kawhi, the most overrated player in the history of professional sports,” one off-screen heckler can be heard saying in the video. “You did what you did, man. You that bum, dog.”
Whether or not Leonard is overrated is not exactly a popular topic of debate, but it will certainly become one now that he has quickly become one of the faces of the league.
Leonard seemed destined to join the Lakers after winning the 2019 NBA Finals as a member of the Toronto Raptors. That all changed when he shocked the basketball world and signed with the Clippers instead.
Since then, rumors and reports have come out that seem to indicate that Leonard was stringing the Lakers along to reduce their ability to sign other top-level free agents.
All that is surely up for debate. What is not up for debate is that as a member of the Clippers, Leonard will certainly be seen as something of a villain for the vast majority of fans in L.A.
