Most experts seem to agree that the two best teams in the NBA’s Western Conference this upcoming season will be the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.
Many also expect both squads to finally establish a true rivalry after inhabiting the nation’s second largest market together since the 1984-85 season.
When asked which team is better, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas didn’t hold back on his thoughts.
The three-time NBA All-Star and San Fernando Valley native asserted that the Purple and Gold will have the edge due to not only their height, but also their athleticism.
In Anthony Davis, Javale McGee, and Dwight Howard, the Lakers have three legit big men who can not only play center but also run the floor very well. They are also strong finishers at the rim, stout rebounders and high-level rim protectors.
As of now, the Clippers’ big weakness seems to be serviceable big men. Their only rotation player who’s taller than 6-foot-9 is Ivica Zubac, the former Laker who appeared in a career-high 20.2 minutes per game in 26 contests with the Clippers this past season.
Many preseason predictions have either the Lakers or Clippers favored to not only win the Western Conference but also claim the NBA championship next June.
