Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard appears to be on a different level this season.
Following the Lakers’ first win of the season on Friday, Howard was seen practicing and putting up shots with trainers.
Howard, 33, has had a roller-coaster career in the NBA. The big man was once a perennial Defensive Player of the Year with the Orlando Magic, who he led to the NBA Finals in 2009.
However, after a tumultuous campaign with Kobe Bryant and the Lakers during the 2012-13 season, the 6-foot-10 center saw his career turn south. Following three seasons with the Houston Rockets, the journeyman bounced around the league, playing single seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards.
Yet, despite all of the drama and lack of stability, Howard seems to be more serious in his second stint with Los Angeles. After all, the Lakers, who signed the veteran to a non-guaranteed deal, have earnest championship expectations this season with superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis on their roster.
The eight-time All-Star has career averages of 17.3 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game.
