Over the last few days, there has been growing pessimism regarding the NBA’s ability to eventually resume the 2019-20 season.
However, Los Angeles Lakers swingman Danny Green recently stated on “Inside the Green Room With Danny Green” that he is not buying into that doom and gloom scenario.
“I think, by any means necessary, we’re going to try to salvage the season,” said Green. “Most of the guys think that we’re for sure going to have a season. It’s just going to start later than we expected. Just trying to get the next season to be pushed back is not going to be as easy to people think it’s going to be. It’s probably going to start mid-to-late May maybe, that’s what we’re hoping for at the earliest.”
The Lakers were riding high when the season was suspended nearly a month ago due to the novel coronavirus.
Amidst questions of whether they could beat other championship contenders, they defeated the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers in a span of two weeks.
With a 49-14 record, the Lakers sit atop the Western Conference standings and are a healthy five-and-a-half games ahead of the second-place Clippers. The Lakers are three games behind the Bucks for the best record in the league.
Green has been a key role player for the Purple and Gold this season.
In addition to his dependable three-point shooting and defense, his experience playing on two NBA championship teams is expected to be a major asset when, or if, the 2020 NBA Playoffs begin.
