Brandon Ingram Takes Possible Dig at LeBron James When Comparing Him to Zion Williamson

Few players have been compared to Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James during his NBA career. One of the players that has been compared to James is New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson.

It’s not only the combination of size and speed that has drawn comparisons between the two players, it’s the amount of media attention that both seem to attract wherever they go.

In a recent interview with Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, former Lakers player Brandon Ingram took what certainly seemed like a bit of a dig at James when he compared him to his new Pelicans teammate.

“[Zion] gets the attention, but he knows how to handle it, too,” he said. “He is not too soaked up in it. There is a little attention with our group with how young we are and how good we can be. Just the hype.

“L.A. is a different type of attention.”

It’s subtle, but Ingram does seem to be indicating that James let the attention of Los Angeles get to his head last season. That being said, he does also admit that the media presence in New Orleans is incomparable to that of L.A.

At the moment, Williamson isn’t getting much media attention at all as he recovers from knee surgery he underwent in mid-October.

As for James, he and the Lakers are humming along with a current record of 3-1.

If they keep up the winning, the attention in L.A. is sure to only get more pronounced. Hopefully the four-time MVP doesn’t let it go to his head.
