Since the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Anthony Davis last month, excitement has continued to build about his potential role in the team’s resurgence.
On Sunday at Universal Studios, Davis offered a hint of what’s to come during the 2019-20 season by sinking a shot and then looking into the future.
Davis will begin his eighth season in the NBA this fall, having established himself as arguably the best player in the game. As an all-around player, Davis has career averages of 23.7 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while his defensive numbers are equally impressive. Those include an average of 2.4 blocks and 1.4 steals per contest.
One area that Davis could improve on is his shooting from beyond the arc. During his regular season career, he’s connected on 181 3-pointers at a rate of 31.4 percent, with the bulk of his attempts having taken place in the past four seasons. Adding that weapon to his repertoire would give him yet another asset in his arsenal.
Simply adding Davis to the Lakers roster would have been enough to whet the appetite of fans starved for their team to reach the postseason. However, his teaming with LeBron James has led to predictions that go far beyond that, including that of battling for an NBA title.
