Before the Los Angeles Lakers took the court to face the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, Anthony Davis was experiencing flu-like symptoms.
He played anyway, but needed some treatment at halftime.
Davis has been playing through discomfort for much of the season. He’s had a sore shoulder for the past few weeks that caused him to miss a game against the Golden State Warriors in November. He also tweaked his elbow in a win against the New Orleans Pelicans last week.
But he didn’t seem to be affected much during the game, as he scored 25 points on 9-18 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Lakers’ 105-96 win.
He also helped the team get some key defensive stops down the stretch, as the Lakers held Denver to just 20 points in the fourth quarter.
LeBron James also contributed 25 points to go along with nine assists.
It’s the first game of a tough three-game road trip for Los Angeles, as it will face the Utah Jazz on Wednesday and Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
At 18-3, the Lakers have the best record in the Western Conference, and they’re tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the top record in the NBA.
