Anthony Davis Lists 5 Lakers in His All-Time NBA Starting 5

Los Angeles Lakers super Anthony Davis has been with the team less than a month, but he’s not shy about embracing the prestigious legacy of his new team.

He went on social media to offer his opinion of the NBA’s all-time starting five, with all five being current or former Lakers.

Davia’ inclusion of himself is likely to spark plenty of conversation, though his NBA career to this point puts him in position to garner such an accolade. His new teammate, LeBron James, has played with the Lakers for only one season, yet he long ago established himself as one of the greatest basketball players ever.

In the case of Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, that duo helped bring three consecutive NBA titles to Los Angeles from 2000 to 2002. After O’Neal was traded, Bryant added two more championships to the Lakers’ legendary history, leading them to consecutive wins in 2009 and 2010.

The final player in this quintet, Magic Johnson, was part of the legendary Showtime Lakers that won five NBA titles during the 1980s. He later served as the team’s head coach and worked in the front office.

There will likely be criticism that other Laker legends such as Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are not listed. Like every opinion, such beliefs are in the eye of the beholder.
