Ever since the NBA suspended play on March 11 due to the novel coronavirus, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis has been rather quiet on social media.
Today, the low-key superstar finally broke his silence.
Davis was acquired last July in a huge three-team trade following a protracted and rather public negotiation period.
After LeBron James’ very disappointing maiden voyage with the Lakers last year, Davis has turned out to be just the co-superstar the four-time MVP needed.
The Chicago, Ill. native has averaged 26.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.4 blocked shots per game this season. In doing so, he has made himself perhaps the frontrunner for the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award.
Not only has Davis made life much easier for James, but James has also given Davis the kind of help he never even remotely had in seven seasons with the New Orleans Pelicans.
If and when the NBA resumes play, Davis will have an opportunity to truly add himself to the long list of superstar bigs who have donned the purple and gold. He can place himself alongside George Mikan, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Shaquille O’Neal and Pau Gasol by helping lead the Lakers to an NBA championship.
